When kids return to school and kindergarten, they don’t just bring home new knowledge and friendships. No, they also bring home muddy socks, food-stained shirts, and colorful traces of Play-Doh and paint. In other words – they bring home mountains of laundry.

How much laundry can one family produce?

The average family washes about 4–5 loads of laundry per week. That means the washing machine gets more action than the school bell. And if there are several sporty kids in the family, the washing machine might as well run permanently in the living room – like an aquarium, only less zen and a lot more sock-scented.

All in all, that’s around 25–30 kg of laundry per week. Imagine lifting a small schoolboy into and out of the washer every week. (Of course, not literally. Please don’t try this at home.)
